Carta de Amor

Commissioned for and performed by the Playground Ensemble, Carta de Amor is a multimedia triptych for mixed chamber ensemble and reverberant water tank. Written for and recorded in the highly resonant 75-foot steel tank in Rangely, CO known as the TANK Center for Sonic Arts, this piece plays with the space’s long natural resonances and to create decaying shadows of sound that paint a sonic love letter in three parts.

The piece features beautiful sound-interactive projections by new media artist LUCIA. Her dynamic abstract figurations draw from sacred geometry and cymatics to evoke a cyclicality between the sonic and physical worlds.

The Playground Ensemble both recorded the work at the TANK in August 2024 and premiered it at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver in Feburary 2025.

This piece was made possible with support from the Playground Ensemble, the Tongue River Artist Residency, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver.

It's Not About the Hat

Original music for the film “It's Not About the Hat” by M.C. Harvey.

Double Quartet

Double Quartet combines the traditional jazz quartet and string quartet formats into a unique ensemble that brims with color— searching melodies and film-inspired harmonies breathe emotion into grooves inspired by afro-Cuban music, EDM, and progressive rock. In live performance, animated graphics accompany the music and weave an immersive musical narrative that obliquely bridges film and fiction.

This evening-length piece in nine movements was premiered at the Yale planetarium and featured coordinated visuals on the dome overhead.
